TDI ADVANCED NITROX DIVER COURSE

The TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver program qualifies divers to dive to 40m for dives that require decompression stops based on your back gas, using nitrox mixtures up to and including 100% oxygen for increased safety during your decompression stops.

WHAT DO I NEED TO START

  • Nitrox Diver (or qualifying certification from another organisation)
  • Have a minimum of 25 logged dives
  • Be 15 years of age
  • Appropriate theory for the course. This can be assigned to you on payment of the deposit.

WHAT WILL I DO

You will complete the TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver theory with your instructor, including content on oxygen exposure tracking for technical and gas switch dives, equipment setup and configuration, physiology and decompression as well as a gas switch decompression dive planning workshop. You will then move to our 5.5m indoor heated pool (or a suitable confined water site abroad) where you will learn the skills required to safely conduct decompression, and gas switch dives using a twinset, and stage cylinder.

This session also gives you the perfect opportunity to put the equipment changes made in the workshop to the test. The TDI Advanced Nitrox diver program culminates in 4 open water dives, during which you will demonstrate your ability to safely conduct at least two decompression dives to a maximum depth of 40 meters, including a switch to a rich nitrox mix (safety gas) during your decompression. On each of these dives, you will carry out the drills which technical diving makes possible, including shutdowns that enable you to deal with catastrophic gas loss in a safe manner and end your dive in a controlled manner.

In doing so you will be becoming a self-sufficient diver able to deal with buddy separation and/or equipment malfunctions. Completion of the course requires passing the TDI Advanced Nitrox diver exam.

WHAT'S NEXT

For holders of TDI Advanced Nitrox diver certifications, your options are many and varied.

For those wanting to dive a little deeper and use a nitrox mix to accelerate your decompression the TDI Decompression Procedures course offers diving to 45m.
