Don't forget these...

To venture outside the world of recreational diving requires training and equipment beyond the scope of that learned in recreational scuba diving courses.

The PADI Tec 50 course enables the diver to conduct gas-switch extended decompression dives using two decompression gases of up to 100 percent oxygen to a depth of 50 meters. The course consists of self-study followed by academic work and four open water dives conducted over three days. The last dive can be conducted on trimix if required with an additional fee.

  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Be certified as a Tec 45 diver or provide a qualifying certification from another training organization. For the purposes of this level, a qualifying technical certification is one that qualifies the student to make decompression dives to 45 meters using air, nitrox, and oxygen using open circuit, double cylinder scuba equipment.
  • Be certified as a PADI Rescue Diver or provide a qualifying certification from another training organization. For this course, a qualifying certification is proof of training in diver rescue. Students who meet this prerequisite through a qualifying certification must provide proof of training in CPR and First Aid within the previous two years.
  • Have a minimum of 100 logged dives, of which at least 25 dives were made with nitrox deeper than 18 meters, and have at least 20 dives deeper than 30 meters.
  • Your Tec Deep Instructor may also introduce you to using trimix on the last open water dive.

Included in the course are Tec Deep Manual, cylinder, wing and backplate, regulator and specialized equipment hire, and certification. Other equipment hire, diving fees, transport, accommodation, and gas fees are not included.

Tec 50 Trimix (option)

Curious about the benefits of using Trimix gas, like decreased gas density and reduced narcosis? Tec 50 divers can also learn to use trimix with not less than 21 percent oxygen and not more than 40 percent helium. This course prepares the diver to move into deeper, more complex trimix diving, such as the PADI Tec Trimix 65 and PADI Tec Trimix courses.

HELIUM; Malta is a small island in the middle of the Mediterranean, at times the availability of Helium and its price can fluctuate.

Therefore, it is IMPERATIVE that you check current prices for all helium/mixed gases courses.

Human Factors in Diving: The essentials
